Chiropractic is clever stuff!
The function of your spine can influence the way your brain perceives what's going on in your body. Chiropractic care restores the health and function of your spine, thereby improving the communication between your brain, your body, and the environment.
If your brain can accurately perceive what is going on, it can control your body better. Your brain needs to integrate all the sensory information to be able to accurately move your body. This is called sensory motor integration.
When your brain gets it right, it can carry out movements with pinpoint perfection.
If your spine is not moving properly, though, it makes it harder for your brain to accurately perceive what is going on in your body, and this impacts how it can control your movements. You may notice this as clumsiness, but it can also lead to accidents and the development of painful conditions.
A chiropractor gently adjusts dysfunctional spinal segments. An adjustment is a high speed yet gentle thrust to a segment that is not moving properly.
A package of chiropractic care may be used regularly to help maintain good posture, promote health and improve performance, no matter what it is you do, from a high performance athlete to a senior member of the community enjoying a potter in the garden.
